Can I mix and match varieties?
Yes.
Can I combine my order with friends or relatives to get a discount?
Yes, as long as you place one order shipped to one address.
Can I change my order at a later date?
Yes, subject to availability.
When will the trees be shipped?
Once the trees are fully dormant and harvested in December, we will begin shipping in January 2012. You can select the week you would like your trees shipped at purchase and we'll send you a note prior to shipping to confirm.
Why should I order so far in advance?
Last year we did not have enough trees to fill the demand, so placing your order early is the only way to guarantee you will get the varieties you want.
How big are the seedlings?
They are 18"-24" tall with a 1/4"-3/8" diameter depending on the variety. The root system is about the size of your hand.
Which trees will grow in my area?
Please go to ( http://www.usna.usda.gov/Hardzone/ushzmap.html ) to determine your cold hardiness zone. Compare your zone to our tree listings to determine which varieties are cold hardy in your area. For instance, a Bald Cypress (zone 4) will grow far north of your property in Atlanta's zone 7.
How long until I get fruit or acorns?
Each variety will be different and growing conditions will make a big difference, but you should be seeing fruit/nuts in 4-5 years.
How far apart should I plant my trees?
Use the spread listed in our plant descriptions as a starting point, but keep in mind as you walk through a forest you will see huge trees that are listed as having a 50' spread thriving only 10' apart. Depending on the look and density you want, half the spread will work in most cases.
Can I pay by check?
Yes, go to the contact page for our address and send in your order by mail. Don't forget to include a phone number or email address, along with a shipping address and your tree info.
What is your return policy?
If you are unhappy for any reason, return your trees within a week of receipt for a full refund on the trees. The shipping (both ways) is your responsibility.
